Eye Exams

At Willetts and Doig we aim to give thorough eye exams and take the time to listen to our patient’s symptoms and visual requirements, so we can perform the relevant tests and deliver the best outcome.

We have 45 minute appointments so we can personalise the eye exam to your needs and symptoms. There is no rushing the examinations or patients. We perform both NHS(subject to eligibility) and private eye exams.

Optomap Imaging

Optomap ultra-widefield imaging is a quick and painless test that lets us view up to 80% of your retina in a single image where standard photography might only capture 15% at one time.

This helps to detect early signs of eye disease and problems and is also a fantastic way to monitor eye health overtime as we can directly compare with images taken previously. Our Optometrists will happily show you them if you are interested to see what the inside of your eyeball looks like!

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)

OCT stands for Optical Coherence Tomography. It is a safe, easy and non-invasive method to produce a 3D Scan of the retina, optic nerve and macula. This can detect very early changes with the retina which may not be visible by just examining the surface because it produces a cross section showing the deeper retinal layers.

It is very useful for diagnosing diseases affecting the macula, assessing the optic nerve and monitoring overtime for changes before they
start to affect the sight.

Contact Lens Fittings

Fed up of glasses getting in the way? We are able to fit a very wide range of contact lenses to various prescriptions and materials, to give you that freedom from glasses when you need it. First time contact lens wear can be daunting so we are here every step
of the way.

We fit the best lenses to suit your eyes, help you learn how to take care of them and insert and remove them safely to line you up for contact lens success! The fitting process includes at least 2 appointments so we can follow up and see how you
are getting on.

Contact lens Aftercare Appointments

It is recommended to have a contact lens aftercare if you are a lens wearer every 1 or 2 years (depending on individual circumstance) if you want to continue wearing and ordering your contact lenses.

This is to make sure they are not putting your eye health at risk, check your vision is the best it can be and solve any contact lens problem you
may be having.

Dry Eye Appointments

Dry eye is often a chronic condition and not always completely curable. However, a dry eye appointment can help find out the best way to manage and reduce symptoms
as much as possible.

Our Optometrists can have an in depth look at the ocular surface, lids and lashes and make personalised recommendations. We also arrange follow ups to check treatments are working.

Myopia Control

Myopia is the condition where long distance vision is blurry and you need concave (negative powered lenses) to make the vision clearer. Myopia not only makes your vision blurry, but puts you at increased risk of eye diseases.

Myopia levels are increasing across the world and usually starts to develop in childhood and can progress as a child grows. Thankfully, there are now special spectacles and/or contact lenses which help slow the rate at which the eyesight worsens. This means by the time they stop growing, the risk of eye problems will be reduced and they won’t end up with such a high level of myopia. The best way to monitor myopia is by measuring axial length (length of your eyeball). We use a Topcon Myah machine to do this which is very quick, non-invasive and suitable for most children to use.

Visioffice

We all live different lives so why should our spectacle lenses be the same? Our visioffice dispensing tool takes many in depth measurements of eye movements and position to help completely customise your lenses to your life and eyes.

This will help you achieve the best vision possible in your spectacles so you don;t miss
out on anything.
